Tips & Strategy for Hard Levels
After level 50, most Word Connect Association boards have eight or nine rows and at least one pair of topics that overlap. These seven habits are what separates a clean solve from a lost life.
1. Scan before you drag
Read all the tiles once, top to bottom, before moving any. You're not solving yet, just naming candidate topics in your head: "animals… some rocks… music?". Ten seconds of scanning prevents most mistakes.
2. Anchor on rare words
Unusual words have very few possible homes. BRECCIA is a sedimentary rock and nothing else; DULCIMER is a folk instrument. Find the rare tiles first and build their rows around them.
3. Narrow beats broad
If a tile fits both a broad topic (Birds) and a narrow one (Owls), it almost always belongs in the narrow one. The broad topic has plenty of other members to choose from; the narrow one doesn't.

Some words are used under several different topics across the game. Where they belong depends entirely on the other tiles on the board:

6. Let the leftovers solve themselves
The last row on every board is free: whatever four tiles remain must be a topic. So there's no need to crack the most abstract category. Solve everything around it, and the tricky row falls out at the end.
7. Beating 9-row boards
- Solve any picture group first; it clears four tiles and completes part of another row.
- Lock in two or three "safe" rows made of rare words.
- List the twin topics on the board and split their shared words using rule 3.
